My testimony about divorce and remarriage - Reidun Friestad
I was married in 1977 and divorced in 1980. Was married for a second time in 1984 and divorced in 2001. Invited Jesus into my life for the first time in February 2005. And because I had never heard any preacher speak about marriage, divorce and remarriage, I was about to marry for a third time in the summer 2005.
However, God stopped me! And I experienced a mighty touch by The Lord at the very moment it was over between us. Which gave me great Peace!
Then on September 14, 2007 while I were singing, praising, and praying, The Lord spoke very clearly to me about marriage, divorce and remarriage when my first husband is still alive. He showed me in His Word that I was forgiven, but He also showed me that there were a consequence for me being divorced, and that I only had two options. He sent me to the scripture:
1 Cor. 7:10 Now to the married I command, yet not I but the Lord: A wife is not to depart from her husband. 11 But even if she does depart, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband. And a husband is not to divorce his wife. 39 A wife is bound by law as long as her husband lives; but if her husband dies, she is at liberty to be married to whom she wishes, only in the Lord.
I got the option to either live alone as unmarried or to reconcile with my first husband. From the day The Lord spoke this to me in 2007, I choose to live alone as unmarried.
The Lord also told me to change my last name. Because the last name were my second husband’s name. And since my second husband were not my right husband, I should not carry his name. And when I finally applied to get back my birth name, blessings started to come towards me.
It felt like I had received a new start in life with new possibilities!
